Had a beautiful day at the fishing pier just a bit north of here. Several storms skipped just by us on their way towards Jacksonville on the opposite side of the state, and we were blessed by a steady blast of cooler air from the outflow of these little squalls. What a welcome break from our high humidity and 90 plus degree weather we have been having lately.

This short visit to a pier I last visited too many years ago and  it hopefully represents the first break from what has been a prolonged, high stress, painful and humbling period of my life.  Many individuals dear to me have gone to our Maker,  and their absence in this life leaves a mark in our quieter moments, much as an old injury reawakens whenever the barometric pressure drops, reminding us of those moments when life seems to go sideways, or doesn’t make sense to us.

But then, God put majestic and beautiful things in the world to remind us that our knowledge is finite but His wisdom is infinite. The towering clouds seem randomly shaped, but did you know that clouds grow towards the sun? They follow rules we are only beginning to understand. And the waves, that people who have never watched them assume are unpredictable, are actually orderly,  orderly enough that ancient mariners of the Pacific could use the patterns to boldly navigate the watery expanses, out of sight of land.

God is not the author of chaos.  He  is the creator of order, of the laws of nature. No matter how confusing and painful our path in life may be, take comfort in our divine navigator to bring us through all storms.
