Slow down. Observe. Life is amazing. This mushroom is just a tiny part of a massive organism. It is an interlocking puzzle piece from a much bigger picture, yet marvelously structured, just by itself.  
It is the fancy fruiting body of an organism we are never aware of until these things emerge, designed to disperse its spores. 
I am not sure exactly which species this is, but half the fun is trying to find out. In the meanwhile, we can enjoy it like a work of fine art, admiring its texture, grace and other attributes, and possibly include it in a sketch or painting.
