The air plants on the pecan tree are sending up these red stems … soon a few purple petals will come out.


I use this pecan tree as a nursery for different kinds of native air plants, rubbing handfuls of the seed on its rough bark when I have gathered it from air plants which storms sometimes blow off lofty perches.


Sometimes I find a new home for fallen mature plants. Occasionally they get stolen by squirrels looking for nesting material. I haven’t caught them in the act, so I am not 100% sure they are to blame, but look at those beady little eyes…
