Tarpon Springs

This is a small original acrylic painting of shrimp boats in the harbor at Tarpon Springs, Florida which was inspired by a quick visit to the sponge docks to photograph pelicans, and some clouds I spotted elsewhere along the coast. While taking snapshots of some gulls, my eye was drawn to this group of posts in the water that had colorful water hoses draped all over them. I thought that would be an interesting composition all by itself, and it does, but when sketching them out, I couldn’t resist putting in a background of old fishing boats and a shrimp company located in the same harbor. To unify the scene I tweaked the colors a bit to give the scene a warm sunset look. Susan A. Walton, S.
