“Secret Admirer ~ Wild Turkey,” an original full color study copyright Susan A. Walton. S. A. Walton Studio, Hudson, Florida.

Artist’s note :

Among the many things I have to be thankful for is my time spent among a resident flock of wild turkeys here in Florida. When we converted an old chicken house and boat shed to a working art studio after moving from town to a more rural area near Aripeka, we were heckled by a great flock of wild turkeys every time we drove a nail. There were over thirty of them, and they were not the least bit shy about checking out everything we did. The flock was led by a pair of Toms who also enjoyed parading in front of a glass studio door we installed, strutting and flexing for 20-30 minutes at a time, as if they were seeking the approval of a hen.

This is a small postcard-sized color study on illustration board for a much larger and more detailed artwork on canvas or Ampersand cradled hardboard to come. If you are interested in the final artwork, and in seeing the steps as it is made, just contact the studio about reserving and preordering, I would be glad to speak with you.

Happy Thanksgiving! —-Sue Walton
